The US has threatened the EU with 17% tariffs on imported European agricultural products. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) citing sources.
They note that the American side took this step ahead of the July 9 deadline for agreeing on a trade deal between the US and the EU.
The warning was conveyed to EU Commissioner for Trade Policy and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič at a meeting in Washington on July 3, and the following day it was conveyed to ambassadors of EU member states, the FT reports.
