The coalition agreement between the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) has signaled Germany’s return to the world stage, and US President Donald Trump must take this into account.
This was stated by future Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Reuters reports.
“Germany will fulfill its defense obligations and work to strengthen its competitiveness,” said Merz, the CDU leader.
He also added that the European Union must develop a unified approach to the tariffs and duties that Trump has imposed on many countries around the world.
