Billionaire Jim Ratcliffe Joins Race to Buy Manchester United

British billionaire and Manchester United fan Jim Ratcliffe officially joined the race to buy the English soccer giant.

Ratcliffe becomes the first potential bidder to publicly declare an interest in purchasing the team.

Boyhood United fan Ratcliffe, who made an unsuccessful 4.25 billion pounds ($5.2 billion) bid to buy Chelsea last year, has long been linked with the Old Trafford outfit.

The American owners, unpopular with the United fan base, want in excess of £5billion for the club but may also consider selling off a minority stake to an investor.
