Ներկայումս «թագավարակը» շարունակում է իր մահաբեր ընթացքը։ Թվում է, թե մարդկությունը կարողացել է հաղթանակ տանել, սակայն, ռուսաստանից եկող լուրերը հուսադրող չեն։ Պրազվում է՝ Ռուսաստանում հանգրվանած չղջիկների մոտ հայտնաբերվել է նոր տեսակի թագավարակ, որը չափազանց մեծ դիմադրողականություն ունի ներկայիս բոլոր պատվաստանյութերի նկատմամբ։
