The administration of US President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of introducing additional sanctions against the Russian shadow fleet if the Russian Federation does not agree to peace with Ukraine.
This was reported by the Financial Times (FT) citing sources.
The publication specifies that the inclusion of ships on the blacklist could be the first time Washington has imposed sanctions against Moscow since Trump returned to the White House.
According to two sources familiar with the discussions, measures against the shadow fleet are considered “a simple first step to impose additional costs on Russia.” A third source close to the White House said that a number of options are being discussed, including sanctions against the ships.
