Iran has partially suspended gas production at the South Pars field after an Israeli drone strike, Reuters reported, citing Iranian media.
The attack, which occurred on Saturday, caused a fire and explosion at one of the facilities, as a result of which one of the four production units was disabled.
South Pars, located south of Bushehr province, is the largest gas field in the world, with reserves estimated at 28 trillion cubic meters. It provides about 70% of gas production in Iran. The country produces about 250 billion cubic meters of gas annually, which is about 6% of the world’s volume. Almost all of the volume is consumed domestically.
