The House Appropriations Committee rejected an amendment to the bill on military spending that would have allocated $300 million to help Ukraine, Breaking Defense writes.
According to journalists, congressmen argued over the amendment for more than an hour.
“The measure… was rejected during a vote,” the article says.
The article cites the words of the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Republican Tom Cole. As he said, approval of the amendment on providing Kyiv with additional funding could jeopardize the support of the entire bill from members of the Republican Party.
Earlier, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced plans by the American authorities to reduce funds intended for the purchase of new weapons for delivery to Ukraine in the budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
