The UK and its allies, including the US, France and Germany, have issued a joint warning about a malicious cyber operation coordinated by Russian military intelligence. The campaign targets, among other things, organisations providing aid to Ukraine.

“This malicious campaign, carried out by Russian military intelligence, poses a serious threat to the targeted entities, including those involved in supporting Ukraine,” said Paul Chichester, director of operations at the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). His words are quoted by Reuters.

According to the NCSC, the attacks also targeted companies working in the logistics and technology sectors, defence companies, IT companies, seaports, airports and air traffic control systems in a number of NATO member states.

The warning includes recommendations for immediate action to reduce the risks.

“We strongly encourage organizations to carefully review the threat information and response steps outlined in the document to ensure their networks are protected,” Chichester added.
