The home in a Chicago suburb where Pope Leo XIV spent his childhood years has been put up for auction for $250,000. This was reported on May 16 by the Daily Mail, citing a source.
“The childhood home of newly elected Pope Leo in Chicago is up for sale at a “luxury private auction” with a starting price of $250,000 and a date of June 18,” the publication says.
It is specified that the house had previously been put up for auction, but the purchase offers were withdrawn in order to get more money after Leo XIV was elected Pope.
As indicated in the article, the house is in good repair, has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. The slogan “a piece of papal history” is used as an advertisement.
On May 9, the Pope’s older brother Louis Prevost revealed that as a child, Leo XIV liked to play priest rather than pretend to be a cowboy or a robber. Children then teased him, calling him “the Pope.”
