Musk suspected of passing data to Russians

American authorities are investigating a possible leak of confidential information, which may involve the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), created with the participation of Elon Musk.

This was reported by NPR, citing sources in the government.
According to the publication, employees of the US National Labor Relations Board suspected that the department gained access to their databases under the pretext of an expense audit, and then could pass the information on to third parties – in particular, to Russian structures.

In March, the DOGE team conducted an audit of the agency for budget optimization. To do this, employees requested the maximum level of access to databases containing sensitive information – including information on trade union activities, corporate secrets, and court data.

After access was granted, agency representatives recorded suspicious outgoing traffic, which raised concerns about the possible copying or transfer of information.

The situation was made worse by the fact that DOGE employees asked not to record their activity in the security system, and then, presumably, tried to cover their tracks by disabling monitoring tools and manually deleting access logs.

The incident has already been brought to the attention of the US Congress. The FBI will likely handle the issue. Meanwhile, questions are increasingly being raised about Musk’s possible ties to Russian structures.
