China’s conditions for negotiations with the US have been revealed

China wants to see concrete actions by the US President Donald Trump’s administration before Beijing agrees to negotiations with Washington on trade tariffs, Bloomberg writes, citing sources. Among other things, the Chinese authorities are waiting for greater respect towards them.

“Respect for Beijing and curbing disparaging remarks towards it will be the most important conditions for the negotiations,” one of the agency’s interlocutors said. Chinese officials also want the United States to appoint a coordinator of the negotiations who will help prepare the deal.

According to the publication, China, among other things, intends to achieve a more consistent position from the US on trade tariffs and issues related to national security. This concerns relations with Taiwan, which Beijing considers its territory.

On April 12, the US raised tariffs on goods from China from 84% to 125%. Taking into account the already existing tariffs of 20%, the total amount of duties reached 145%. In response, China raised tariffs on American goods to 125%.
