The draft agreement on the use of Ukrainian minerals, prepared by the United States, assumes the transfer of control over the Gazprom pipeline, which runs through Ukraine to Europe, to the American state corporation.

According to their information, the project was discussed on Friday in Washington. The agency notes that the negotiations were tense, and the chances of their success are assessed as low. One of Reuters’ interlocutors described the atmosphere as “highly antagonistic”, emphasizing the “maximalist” approach laid down in the American project back in March. The US Treasury Department noted that the consultations are “purely technical in nature”.
According to Reuters, the Ukrainian side hired the law firm Hogan Lovells as an external consultant on the conclusion of the agreement. It is also expected that Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko will arrive in Washington in two weeks to participate in the spring session of the IMF and the World Bank. In particular, a ministerial meeting dedicated to the situation in Ukraine will be held on April 25.
