The Belgian government has decided to provide Ukraine with a new bilateral aid package, under which Brussels has promised to allocate one billion euros annually. This was announced by Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever, Reuters reports.

The head of the Belgian government also noted that Brussels will transfer the first F-16 fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in 2025.

“This year we will deliver two F-16s for spare parts and, of course, we will deliver two fighters next year. We hope to do more, but we depend on the supply of F-35s. There are no delays in Belgium, but there are delays with the F-35. As soon as the F-35 arrives, the F-16 flies away, that’s it,” he said.

Earlier, the Belgian Prime Minister arrived in Kyiv together with the head of the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maxime Prevost and the country’s Defense Minister Theo Francken. It is noted that they are scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
