Elon Musk’s massive cuts to US government funding have led to the suspension of a Yale team that was working to find and rescue Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia, the Mirror reports.

The US government previously funded a group of researchers at the Yale Humanities Research Lab. They used open-source technology to track the whereabouts of missing children and passed the data on to Ukrainian authorities, helping to bring them home.

Their work helped save hundreds of children, but the team has now been shut down due to cuts in federal funding.

According to the Ukrainian government, nearly 20,000 Ukrainian children have been kidnapped since the war in Ukraine.
