LeBron James Is the NBA’s All-Time Scoring Leader — and a Billionaire

1 Min Read

LeBron James added to his long list of achievements in the basketball arena when he scored 38 points against the Los Angeles Lakers and surpassed the record of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, writes Bloomberg.

He’s also become a billionaire and still dominates the league he’s been playing in for two decades. James’ net worth is about $1.1 billion.

His fortune comes from his National Basketball Association salary – tens of millions of dollars a year in recent seasons – as well as sponsorships, investments, and his own consumer goods and entertainment business, SpringHill Co.

SpringHill was recently valued at about $725 million after James and business partner Maverick Carter sold a minority stake to a group of investors, including Nike Inc, with whom James signed a sponsorship in late 2015. The deal is expected to net James $1 billion over his lifetime.
