The profit of Russian banks for 2022 fell 12 times

The profit of Russian banks in 2022 decreased by 11.8 times compared to the indicator of 2021. It fell from 2.4 trillion rubles to 203 billion rubles, RBC reports. This is the worst indicator in seven years.

In the first half of 2022, banks went into the red by a record 1.5 trillion rubles.

RBC indicates that the banking sector managed not to go into the red thanks to Sberbank, which ended the hour with a profit of 300 billion rubles.

In November, the Central Bank predicted that the industry would go to zero. The banking sector was hit the hardest by operations of banks with securities (minus 107 billion rubles), revaluation of assets in foreign currency and precious metals on the balance sheet (minus 408 billion rubles).

By 2023, the Central Bank is counting on a profit of 1 trillion rubles.

In 2022, companies and people withdrew a record 251 billion dollars from accounts in Russian banks.
